Community & Public Health provides a quit smoking programme for Maori women and their whanau.
Advice specific to each persons readiness to quit smoking.
Assistance looking at barriers to quitting.
Follow-up reinforcing the effort to quit.
Our Process
- Our trained staff will make an assessment to ensure you receive the most appropriate advice and follow-up support.
- You will be given the nicotine patches, gum and lozenges following your assessment.
- The nicotine patches, gum or lozenges can be supplied for up to eight weeks.
- You will be provided with on-going support.
Smoking Facts
Tobacco kills 800 Maori a year.
Maori contribute over 260 million dollars in tobacco taxes alone.
Smokers die on average 14 years younger than non-smokers.
An esimated 31% of Maori deaths are attributed to tobacco use.
Second hand smoke contains approximately 4000 chemicals.
Exposure of children to second hand smoke is a risk to their health.
